Cleanse Tips from Donna
The word “cleanse” is a big part of our culture now.
There are many different ways to “do a cleanse” some are very extreme – juice fasts for example, and others are pretty simple “eating clean”, forgoing alcohol, refined sugars and fats, processed foods/ anything genetically modified, poor quality soy and inferior/ over processed dairy as well as chocolate and coffee.
In addition to taking out certain foods, its important to add-in nutrient dense foods like pastured/wild animal proteins including beef, chicken, lamb, buffalo, turkey, eggs and small low toxicity fish like anchovies and sardines. Adding in some fermented vegetables like sauerkraut, plenty of organic greens, whole grains like brown rice & quinoa, yams, and other bright colored vegetables, as well as fruits and good fats like coconut oil, pastured butter and olive oil are all great.
Generally people choose to cleanse for anywhere from a week to a month. I like to eat, so I like a simple eating cleanse like the one above. In addition to this I will add a special morning ritual, which acts as an astringent in the system, clearing out built up toxicity.
Simply mix one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with water (I like Brags brand as it has extra enzymes which aid in cleansing) with the juice from one organic lemon or lime. Drink first thing on an empty stomach, then enjoy a green juice or anything from the above list of foods. I like to do this for about three weeks, the result is clearer skin, brighter eyes, more energy and yes, my skinny jeans always manage to fit a little bit better.
Wishing you all a fantastic spring and beginning of summer!
Love, Donna
